Porsche continues using sustainable transport logistics

Porsche and its logistic partners adds six new electric heavy good vehicles (HGVs) into its transport logistics fleet, which already consisted of 22 biogas-fuelled HGVs. These vehicles will be added to three of Porsche's sites in Germany - Zuffenhausen, Weissach and Leipzig. The vehicles will be used to transport production materials around the plants, alongside the pre-existing fleet.
On top of the addition of these vehicles, Porsche is also testing the use of synthetic fuels in a multi-year trial. This trial will be under the scientific supervision of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. This trial will use 12 HGVs from the existing fleet, powering each vehicle with re-fuels. The four-year trial has displayed impressive results, with findings showing that there are no disadvantages of synthetic fuels as compared to diesel fuel including in fuel consumption and engine reliability.
Porsche states that decarbonisation plays an essential part in its sustainability strategy. Porsche has been actively decarbonising its transport fleets, from powering its HGVs with bio-gas to introducing electric HGVs.
